After
dropping a heartbreaker to fellow perennial loser, It’s a Lottery,
Coach Paul’s all time record stands at 10 – 24 and not 10 -30 as
reported in some sections of the media. It’s A Lottery has a
somewhat unimpressive 22-29 record which includes a first round
playoff loss many moons ago, before the stars and mountains were
formed and the primeval gloop that swirls around the universe was
only just starting to think about coagulation. Dirty devil.

GAME
OF THE WEEK
BENCH WARMERS (3-3) v IT’S A LOTTERY (3-3)
The Rams Defence. |
All
time series record : Series tied 1-1
Last
time out : Riggins 65 – 105 Lottery
It’s
the annual gunfight between the old gnarly sheriff and the baby-faced
gunslinger in tumbleweed strewn Wild West frontier town as the
explosive Benchwarmers face off against the rejuvenated Lottery. Last
week the Benchwarmers almost pulled of one of the greatest comebacks
ever against French Leader, falling short by 1.1 points in a 140.32
to 139.22 loss. After back to back victories for the first time in
what seems like an epoch, the Lottery have become genuine Central
division and playoff contenders.
Riggins
almost rode the Rodgers ride to an improbable victory last week and
his week the Green bay general faces a stout (can you believe it)
Rams defence. Despite playing on the road, the Packers will still
look to score well and Rodgers always guarantees points whoever the
opposition. Comeback MVP contender Peyton Manning is on a bye this
week for Lottery so, they will need to rely on a little Luck to steer
the Lottery to their third straight win. Luck faces the Browns who
have been poor so far against the pass so far this season, however
now that shut down corner Joe Haden is back to cover Reggie Wayne and
the continued absence of Headcoach Pagano is becoming more keenly
felt, the Colts QB may find this week harder than expected. EDGE :
RIGGINS
The
bye week absentees has hit Riggins hard in the running back
department in week 7 as both Turner & Bush take their turn riding
the pine. Spiller will carry the main workload and has a good matchup
against the Titans but will likely split carries with Jackson. Ben
Tate will not get the same amount of field time but the Texans should
be able to run all over the Ravens, which is one of the more
surprising facets of the season so far. A double digit haul for Tate
would represent a major boon for the Benchwarmers. Coach Andy took a
gamble taking MJD with his second pick after his well publicized
beard growth (especially when you consider how it affected Ricky
Williams) but now has probably the most formidable 1-2 backfield
punch in the CNFLE. MJD should have a good game against an equally
inept raiders team but McCoy joins the Riggins duo on the bench as
the byes kick in again, which offers an opportunity to the lesser
known cardinal back William Powell who is only a low end option this
week given that he faces a Vikings run defence that yields an average
of 75 yds per game. EDGE : LOTTERY
Victor
Cruz has been one of the most consistent wideouts through six weeks
and against a weak Redskins secondary there is no reason to think
that his good form won’t continue. Dez Bryant has been good in
patches this season and he should matchup well this week against a
porous Panthers outfit, his dropped two point conversion at the end
of last weeks game however not only did for Dallas but for Coach
Richard as well! With Floyd sitting on the busiest bye week so far
Henderson comes in from the cold and Coach Richard will hope for a
similar performance to the last time he played returning 21 points in
week 5. Coach Andy will lean heavily on the ‘Double W’ tandem in
Welker and Wallace who after a slow start are both starting to hit
their straps in teams that weigh heavy on offence. Whilst Welker will
benefit from a banged up Jets secondary, Wallace has a great matchup
as the home run hitter against a Bengals who have no speed deep.
Avery replaces Decker and may have some success as read 2 if Haden
covers Wayne as expected. EDGE : LOTTERY
Coach
Richard has stuck with Fred Davis since week 1 and it is starting to
pay dividends as Fred Davis has become a steady favourite of RGIII,
he does however have a tough matchup this week against the Giants who
have yet to allow a TD to a TE. Heath Miller has emerged as an
excellent waiver wire pick up for Coach Andy and given that the
Bungles have allowed TD’s to TE’s in two of the past three weeks
represents a solid option for the Lottery this week. EDGE : LOTTERY
The
Packers D has sometimes been good and sometimes bad, but has always
been Coach Richards pick week in week out. His policy of loyalty
should be rewarded this week as the Cheeseheads face the Rams who are
limited offensively and without their best receiver in Amendola. The
Benchwarmers will need to get a kicker off the waiver wire if they
are to avoid the wrath of Commissioner Gordon for not fielding a full
team. Similar to Coach martin and his penchant for the Patriots,
Coach Andy has seen his Lottery morph into the Lottery Steelers,
however the matchup with Bengals promises to be a shootout as young
gun Dalton and his understanding with the Leagues #1 WR Green keeps
improving by the week. The Blair Witch in Minnesota has been one of
the finds of the season so far and his impressive kicking record
should continue. EDGE : LOTTERY (until RIGGINS picks up a kicker)
Despite
scoring in excess of 125 points four times already this season and
also being second top scorers in CNFLE the Bench Warmers are only
.500 and face the unpalatable prospect of a must win game this week
to stay hot on the heels of their divisional rivals in the North. The
question on everyone’s lips however is ‘are Lottery for real?.
Some pundits have already suggested that they are dark horses for the
Crown but Coach Andy is keen to play his teams playoff chances down.
‘We have a couple of tough matches coming up against the two top
scorers in the league. When we have played those matches, we will
know where we stand and whether this team has got what it takes’.
Nonetheless, the way that this game is shaping up, the Lottery could
be in line for a positive record for the first time since 2009.

PAULS
POLARBEARS (5-1) v HAIRY FROG DISCO (2-4)
Felix. Run little fella. |
All
time series record : Disco lead 2-0
Last
time out : Baptists 59 – 152 Disco
It’s
a case of role reversal in this week 7 matchup as the 5-1 Bears take
on the hapless Disco in a must win encounter for Coach Calum’s
charges. The Bears dropped a heartbreaker to the ‘not joining in
Lottery’ to ruin Paul’s chances of a perfect season last week
whilst the Disco dropped their third straight despite an improved
performance against the Mafia. In their two previous encounters the
average winning margin has been 68pts as the Hairies have amassed a
mammoth 256 compared to the Bears paltry 120
Bears
matchups couldn’t look any better this week as Manning should torch
a poor Redskins pass defence, Foster will run over a desperate
Ravens, Moore is facing a Jags D that has been every which way to
Sunday and Cobb averages over almost 100 yards per game in the three
games since CedBen went down. Throw in Percy Harvin as a wildcard and
Sproles who has big play potential and the Bears look like stone cold
certs to put last weeks loss down as a mere momentary blip.
Are
the Disco as bad as they seem to be? True, in the last two weeks they
have lost key contributors to injury, but would that have made up the
25 point shortfall come the end of regulation? Unlikely. With only
three scores above 100 and a high of 117 this is certainly
unchartered territory for the usually competitive Disco. On the plus
side RGIII looks to have suffered no ill effects from ‘that’ hit
and McFadden and Felix the Cat both have great matchups as do Nicks,
Johnson and waiver wire sensation Josh Gordon. They could make a game
of it if all the cards fall right. Could I said. Not would.
Both
teams players have matchups to die for and this could run the Leader
/ Riggins game close for the season highest aggregate scoring of
279.54, however on this occasion the Bears early season form gives
them the edge in a close one.

SUPER
SWEDES (4-2) v FEAR FACTORY (3-3)
Mrs Botond. |
All
time series record : Series tied 1-1
Last
time out : Swedes 96 – 129 Factory
Both
the Swedes and factory had last gasp come from behind dramatic wins
in week 6 as Denver duo of McGahee and Thomas eked out just enough
points to win the Valhalla Bowl whilst Gates heroics for San Diego
propelled the factory back into the mix in the South. It obviously
was too much to take for last weeks heroes as they are all on a bye
this time out. Peter took the early initiative in this game with a
healthy 14.7 pt return from Beast Mode Lynch.
After
laboring for 3 quarters last week, Stafford’s last quarter heroics
cost eagles D co-ordinator his job and was just enough for him to
keep his in the Swedes line up although its hard to trust him against
Da Bears this week. Law Firm comes in for McGahee and will need to
improve on recent performances. Blackmon could be good for a one week
wonder as he faces Oakland but Moss has been a non factor so far in
DC which means Wayne and Gronk will need to post a healthy portion of
the points if the Swedes are to get close to 100.
With
Brees back in the line-up, the garden starts to look a little more
rosy for Coach Botond and expect fireworks in the Battle of the Gulf
this week as the Saints travel to Tampa. Marshall, Hawkins and Austin
all have big play potential and also have favourable matchups, Botond
will hope however that the Cowboys and Bears don’t rely o the run
too much as they are expected to gash their opposition. Jackson could
have a monster stat line against the Titans if he gets the Bills
share of the ball.
Despite being right
in the mix, we get the feeling that we haven’t seen the best of
these two teams yet. In fact we think that both these teams dodged a
bullet last week in very low scoring last gasp wins. But a win is a
win and after this week one or both of these teams will be live
playoff contenders.

WARRIORS (4-2) v BONE ROCKS (2-4)
42.3pts. |
All
time series record : Series tied @ 1-1
Last
time out : Royale 109 – 134 Rocks
The
Warriors are the second best autopick team in the league, they also
sit second in the toughest division, the North, after a pair of
impressive back to back wins Coach Conor’s team will want to keep
that positive momentum to pounce if the Bears should slip up again.
After a good start, the Boners have now dropped three on the spin to
sit at 2-4. Coach Lars boys are the lowest scorers in the league so
far and need to produce a good performance to avoid falling into the
category of also rans in Season 4
Wow,
in what is a six team bye week the Warriors have been hit especially
hard with Rivers, Mathews, Gonzo and Bowe all out for the week and
none can be waived for a replacement, AJ Green will hope to keep up
his current form, but it will be down to Palmer against Jacksonville
who will need to score enough points to keep Warriors in the game.
Much will also depend on how the Ravens fare against an impressive
Houston D who will be raw after being ripped by Rodgers. Is this the
week for Witten to get back to his pre injury form against the
Panthers. Tough week. Tough, tough week.
Coach
Lars has depended on the 49ers in all three seasons in the CNFLE,
Gore and the D have been staple features and this week they certainly
did the business as the Rocks hold a 42.3pt advantage with three
players down. Elsewhere Doug Martin will look to run through the
Saints defence, who although they are back from a bye still have
leadership issues. Despite Shonn Greene’s stellar performance last
week he still sits on the Boners bench, the thinking surely being
that the Pats will get ahead big and Sexy Rexie will need to abandon
the run. Shaub and Johnson need to get on the same page against the
Ravens this week.
The
forty plus points back in the hatch look to be worth their weight in
gold for the prospects for the Rocks and a score of 100 here would
pose serious issues for a Warrior team shorn of their quality. For
the Warriors, at least they can reflect that next week it will be
normal service resumed.

FRENCH
LEADER (4-2) v WEST COAST MAFIA (2-4)
Whose Johson is bigger? |
All
time series record : Mafia leads 1-0
Last
time out : Leader 77 – 96 Mafia
Now
Laurent is back from his sojourn overseas, there surely is nothing to
stop French Leader staking claim in the South. Currently top by a
game and riding a two game winning streak and a matchup against a
statistically inferior opponent surely nothing can go wrong now? Last
week saw Jordy Nelson finally join the Mafia family as Coach Cullen’s
tenacity saw off a hapless Disco to throw themselves right back into
the mix in the Central.
Coach
Laurent will be hoping for a Bay City shoot out in Tampa this week
with both Colston and Williams on hot streaks. Whilst Colston is the
#1 WR in the Big Easy, Williams has done a nice job of coming back
after his sophomore slump last year. Big Ben has a great looking
matchup against Divisonal rivals Cincinatti. With Jackson seemingly
splitting carries for the Rams now that his contract issues has been
made public and Peterson & Johnson both with tough matchups this
could be tough sledding for the Gallic game planner.
After
struggling for the early part of the season Coach Cullen has kept the
faith with CJ2K and if ever there were a week to start the Titan
back, this is it. A great looking matchup against a Bills D that has
been consistently gashed should provide a solid platform from which
the Mafia can add points to. Romo has also been a major
disappointment so far and could get back on track against the
Panthers. Nelson will look to be the go to guy again against the
Rams, Forte will see a lot of the ball against the Lions and Vincent
Jackson should be productive against the Saints.
Lock
up your daughters, the Mafia are back in town and they look like they
could take this one after Big Vern’s big fat zero and the Hawks D
only yielded a sum total of 13 points for the Leader. This one is all
about whose Johnson is bigger.

NINE FC (3-3) v TTTTAYLOR (1-5)
Tttaylor. The Champions curse. |
All
time series record : Ttttaylor leads 2-1
Last
time out : Niners 93 – 118 Ttttaylor
The
final match in the preview sees a repeat of the Carltonbowl II which
was won by Coach Martin. However since then Ttttaylor has won both
subsequent meetings to lead the overall series, but their season IV
form as Champions has been downright shocking as the Champions curse
becomes ever more real each week, (although a number of their losses
have been tight). The Niners return to action after a disappointing
performance in last weeks loss against the warriors to lose pace with
the Leader. They do however remain in the thick of things in the
South.
Big
news for the Niners is that Saints tight end Graham does not travel
to Tampa. This will have a massive impact on the Niners as their 2nd
round pick had been one of their early season positives. Rookie
sensation Richardson is banged up but looks the type to man up, he
may split carries however. Antonio Brown needs to show some
bouncebackability after his performance last week and has a nice
matchup against the #2 Cincy corner. Brady and Lloyd could be big
points scorers this week as the Pats will mess up the Jets.
As
if things could get any worse for the reigning champ after a last
minute heartbreaker against the Factory last week, but the Falcons
duo of Ryan & Jones sitting have only gone and sat on the bench
on their bye this week! This could conceivably be the straw that
broke the Ttttaylors back, coupled with a questionable Giants back
Bradshaw it’s difficult to see where the points will come from. In
comes Weeden who isn’t actually as bad as early season critics
though as long as he is just asked to launch the ball into the
Brown-o-sphere. Britt could grab a handful, but when you are relying
on Cleveland to bring home the bacon things must be tough.
This
one is an ugly looking matchup but the Brady bunch should have enough
to see off a Ttttaylor team that is in ttttatters. If the Niners do
grab the W we may be about to call time on the Ttttaylor playoff
tradition with only one win for the Champ at the turn.
VERDICT
: NINERS BY 17
Wins
for Lottery, Bears, Factory, Rocks, Mafia and Niners means that the
Bears stretch their lead in the North, the Central finally come to
